This recipe is quite literally a twist when it comes to traditional banana bread recipes. I am not a big baker as of now, so I like to consider this one of my “showstopper” dessert recipes not only because it's one of those recipes that almost everyone tends to enjoy but also because its visual appeal makes it stand out on any dessert table or at any potluck. The pairing of the rich chocolate flavor with that comforting and warm banana flavor that so many love makes it a dessert/snack that leaves you wanting more after every bite. It is also one of those recipes I make on a monthly basis because my mom “accidentally” ends up buying extra bananas at the store every two weeks and this recipe is always her solution to the surplus of bananas in our household. There are a few major key points and tips you want to keep in mind when making this banana bread recipe. First being the most obvious but the more ripe the bananas are the sweeter your banana bread will turn out to be. You want to be cautious not to use bananas that have gone bad and are completely brown but want to look more for the spotted brown bananas to use. Next would be to be sure that your dry ingredients are not clumpy. When mixing your dry ingredients with your wet ingredients I suggest running them through a sifter. I have found this to be a method that works every single time because it guarantees a clump free batter which overall results in a better consistency of the loaf when putting it in to bake. My last tip would be if you are microwaving your butter to get it to room temperature be sure not to mix it with the eggs when it is still hot. Let the butter cool because if mixed with the eggs when too hot, it will cause them to being “cooking/scrambling” and will completely ruin your batter. My favorite things to pair with a slice of this banana bread fresh out of the oven is either with a glass of almond milk or with a scoop of french vanilla ice cream. Both of those options are great but this banana bread is so good that it tastes amazing on its own and wont last long in your household! I hope you love this recipe as much as I do and my DMs are always open for any tips you may want/need…happy cooking!

Marble Banana Bread

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In the large bowl, add in the mashed bananas, butter, eggs, vanilla extract and brown sugar one by one making sure to whisk until evenly combined after each wet ingredient.
  2. After all the wet ingredients are evenly combined, add in the flour, and baking powder and soda through the sifter directly into the same bowl.
  3. Fold all the ingredients together until evenly combined.
  4. Then pour 1/3 of the batter into a separate bowl and add in your cacao powder and mix until evenly combined.
  5. Last spray all sides of loaf pan with the spray oil and place a strip of parchment paper down the middle so it is easier to remove the loaf when done. Add in a spoonful of each batter on top of one another until all the batter is empty. Be sure to gently shake the loaf pan to ensure the batter reaches all ends of the pan.
  6. Take a toothpick or knife and create a swirl like pattern at the top of the bread.
  7. Then bake for 50-55 minutes and enjoy!
