If you are new to my recipes, first off welcome, second off you may not know that I absolutely love fusion dishes and combining flavors from different parts of the world into one dish. My creamy gochujang spaghetti is inspired by that love of combining different flavors into classic dishes like spaghetti. For those of you who may not be familiar with gochujang, it is a spicy and savory fermented chili paste that is used in Korean dishes and has recently become a favorite ingredient for me that is always in my fridge. It is pretty easy to spot gochujang when looking to buy some at the grocery store, you want to keep your eye out for a rub tub packaging and nine times out of ten it will be gochujang! Majority of the time it is vegan and vegetarian friendly but you just want to keep an eye out and read the back of the label because some brands may add other additives. Despite the gochujang paste being spicy, this recipe makes for such a balanced bowl of pasta. The gochujang provides not only spicy but a depth of flavor like no other and the tomato paste, parmesan, and heavy cream gives you all the classic comfort and taste that you would typically get from a bowl of spaghetti. This also makes for the perfect meal because it is done in under thirty minutes and uses minimal ingredients. It also is a good way to mix up your weekly dinners and I personally always make extras because I think it tastes even better the next day! It is also such an easy dish to add extras too. Personally, I love to saute up some bok choy or broccoli with garlic and soy sauce and serve it alongside the spaghetti. Another addition you could make would be to add some grilled chicken or cook up some shrimp to top off the pasta with. Standing alone or with sides this dish is packed with flavor and so good; you also won’t be wasting hours after work cooking and can enjoy your bowl of spaghetti with your favorite tv show in 30 minutes or less.
