Eleven million views and counting…these potato wedges are the most popular recipe on my on Tik Tok page! Nothing brings people together more than a well cooked and seasoned potato. Also, potato wedges in general are extremely nostalgic to me because they remind me of the after school snack my parents let me have once in a while which would bring me so much joy. So recreating them was an easy no brainer and I of course had to do it with my beloved and all time kitchen appliance, my airfryer. Using an air fryer not only is better for you compared to deep frying, it also is an easier cooking process and clean up process. The hot air circulating inside the air fryer creates that beautiful crispy exterior while also making the wedges light and airy. The crunch comparison is identical to the way it would taste in the deep fryer. Another amazing component that gives it that amazing crunchy texture is soaking the wedges in an ice bath before seasoning and cooking. Soaking it in ice water helps remove a lot of the starch that naturally comes in potatoes which allows them to get even crunchier when air frying. These wedges are also extremely versatile, I personally love the seasoning blend I used but you can easily customize it to make it your own. If you do not have all the individual seasonings you can easily use a pre-mixed seasoning blend or if you prefer a heavier garlic taste you can go heavier on the garlic powder. One of the biggest things to be mindful when making any airfryer recipe is the power of your air fryer. While most air fryers have a standard for temperatures, some tend to either heat quicker or slower compared to others. This can cause the potato wedges to cook either quicker or slower depending on the make and model of the airfryer. Another component that can mess with your cooking process is if you do not cut your potato wedges evenly. This goes for anything that you chop and then put into the airfryer to cook. You want to make sure you try and get all of your wedges to be around the same size when chopping to ensure that the cooking process goes well. The best way to ensure that they are cooking evenly is to quickly open and shake your air fryer basket every five to ten minutes and adjust your temperature accordingly.

Air Fryer Potato Wedges

Method

  1. Cut the potatoes vertically down the center. Then cut those halves into 3 or 4 wedges, depending how big the potato is.
  2. Then in a large bowl full of ice water, soak the wedges in the ice water for 25-30 minutes. Drain the ice water, and then completely drain the wedges.
  3. Season with the oil and seasonings. Make sure everything is evenly coated.
  4. In the airfryer, line the wedges up and make sure not to overcrowd or stack the basket. Cook at 350 degrees for about 15-20 flipping the wedges half way through. Each airfryer has different power so make sure to occasionally check the wedges.
  5. Top with parsley and serve !
